ELIGIBILITY & VERIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

REGISTRATION BOUNDARY ELIGIBILITY UPDATE: In an effort to make it easier for families to find the Little League community that is most convenient and conducive to their everyday lives, all players league age 7 and under will be able to participate in the League that is best suited for them regardless of where they reside or go to school. 

  • Siblings of players league age 7 and under that are League age 8 or older may join their siblings in the League of their choosing regardless of residential or school address. 

  • All other players League age 8 and above will continue to participate in the local program that is available within their residential boundary or their school address. 

TO CONFIRM THAT YOUR LEAGUE AGE 8 & OLDER CHILD IS ELIGIBLE TO PLAY IN OUR LEAGUE you must verify that you live within SJALL’s boundary OR that the player attends a school located within SJALL's boundary.  Click here to check which League is located within your residential and/or school address boundary: Little League Finder!

PROGRAM OFFERINGS & FEES

SJALL offers Softball Programs for girls within the following Little League Age Ranges (Please note that you must know your player’s Little League age to register) Little League Softball 2026 Age Chart

Little League Age 4, 5, 6, & 7
  • Will be assigned to a SINGLE A/7U (T-BALL / Coach Pitch) Team
  • League Age 7 year old players may be drafted to a AA/8U Team.
Little League Age 7 & 8: Can be drafted to an AA/8U or AAA/10U Team, based on player experience and evaluations (and/or at the discretion of the Softball Program Director and Player Agent)
  • League Age 8 year old players MUST be drafted to an AA/8U team (may not play at the Single A level)
Little League Age 9 & 10: Can be drafted to an AAA/10U Team or a MAJORS/12U Division Teams based on player experience and evaluations (and/or at the discretion of the Softball Program Director and Player Agent)
Little League Age 11 & 12: Must be drafted to a MAJORS/12U Division Team.
  • New players or players requiring more experience at a lower division of play may be drafted to a AAA/10U Team at the discretion of the Softball Program Director and Player Agent.
  • League age 11 and/or 12 players drafted to an AAA/10U Team may not be considered for All-Star selection in the same season.

EVALUATION SESSIONS, DRAFTS, & TEAM ASSIGNMENTS 

ALL SOFTBALL PLAYERS LITTLE LEAGUE AGE 7-12 MUST ATTEND AT LEAST ONE (1) PLAYER EVALUATION SESSION.

  • Evaluations are scheduled for January 10th and 24th, 2026

  • The player evaluations and (for returning players) the input of prior Managers and coaches and the Softball Program Director & Player Agent determine the Division Draft (AA/8U, AAA/10U, or Majors/12U) to which each player will be assigned, or if the player will be assigned to a SINGLE A/7U Team. 

  • Players that are eligible for more than one "program" (Division of play) based on their League Age may ultimately be drafted to a different Division from which they were initially registered.

  • Players League Age 6 and under will be assigned to a SINGLE A/7U Division Team unless otherwise determined by the Softball Program Director & Player Agent

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS  (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY)

FOR NEW PLAYERS AND/OR RETURNING PLAYERS WHO HAVE MOVED OR CHANGED SCHOOLS SINCE THEIR LAST REGISTRATION
Prior to registering your player, please gather the following documents, complete all required forms, and have each ready to be uploaded at the time of registration. These documents are REQUIRED by Little League International and must be provided prior to your player being assigned/drafted to a team, without exception.

IF YOU HAVE NOT MOVED AND/OR YOUR PLAYER HAS NOT CHANGED SCHOOLS SINCE THEIR ELIGIBILITY WAS LAST VERIFIED, you do not need to provide eligibility documents.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  • Birth Certificate: Submitted once, when your player is registered for the first time. 

  • Three (3) Proof of Residency Documents, according to the procedure outlined  here. Please have these documents scanned and ready to upload prior to registration. These documents must be submitted to each player’s account every time your player registers for an available season. Residency documents MUST be dated February 1, 2025 or later.

OR 

  • A School Enrollment Form, which can be found here

OR
  • A Charter Committee Waiver or a Section II(d) Waiver

AND
  • A Little League Medical Release Form (dated 10/10/25 or later) - REQUIRED for ALL players. The form is linked here 

Please complete all fields of the Medical Release Form (either online or by hand) and sign prior to uploading to your player’s account. This document must be submitted to each player’s account every time your player registers for an available season and must be dated October 10, 2025 or later. Medical Release forms from previous seasons WILL NOT be accepted unless the date has been changed (and initialed by the parent) to match the current season requirements (dated 10/10/25 or later) AND the player's medical and insurance information HAS NOT CHANGED.

  • Registration Fee Payment

  • Volunteer Requirement Deposit Check: 

  • Each family (with the exception of SJALL Board Members, Team Managers, Team Parents, and the two (2) rostered Assistant Coaches) must submit a check made out to San Jose American Little League in the amount of $500, postdated to June 1, 2026. 

  • The League will hold all checks until the family is confirmed to have fulfilled their volunteer obligation, as described below. 

  • Checks will be deposited and the full deposit forfeited if volunteer obligations are not completed IN FULL by the end of the season OR if a parent or family member signs up for a shift that they fail to attend or if he/she fails to provide at least 24 hours notice (of their inability to complete a shift) without finding a replacement or obtaining an exception from the Volunteer Coordinator. Volunteer deposits may be partially refunded at the League's discretion.

PLEASE NOTE - If you have missing eligibility verification forms and/or Medical Release Form, and/or have not submitted your full registration fee AND Volunteer Requirement Deposit Check (if required) OR submitted a Volunteer Requirement Opt-Out payment BY OR BEFORE JANUARY 25, 2026, 11:59 PM your registration is not complete.

IN ORDER TO BE PLACED ON A TEAM / INCLUDED IN THE DRAFT, THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS MUST BE FULFILLED NO LATER THAN JANUARY 25, 2026, 11:59 PM
  1. ALL DOCUMENTS ARE SUBMITTED CORRECTLY,
  2. REGISTRATION FEES HAVE BEEN PAID IN FULL, AND
  3. THE VOLUNTEER DEPOSIT CHECK OR OPT-OUT PAYMENT (when applicable) IS RECEIVED

VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS

Each family is required to:

  • Submit a Volunteer Deposit check made out to San Jose American Little League in the amount of $500, postdated to June 1, 2026 no later than 1/25/26, 11:59 PM (SJALL active Board Members in Good Standing, Team Managers, each team's (2) ROSTERED Assistant Coaches, and the Team Parent are exempt from this requirement)

  • Sign up for and complete a total of two (2) Snack Shack Shifts AND at least seven (7) other volunteer hours (snack shack, hit-a-thon, opening day, closing ceremonies, picture day, field days, etc.) during the regular season.

Families may opt to BUY OUT of their volunteer requirements by paying an additional NON-REFUNDABLE $500 fee at the time of registration.

WITHDRAWAL & REFUND POLICY

  • A parent may withdraw their player at any time, for any reason.
  • Requests to withdraw a registered player shall be made, in writing (via email) to the Membership Director ([email protected]) and copied to the League Vice President ([email protected])

  • DEADLINE TO WITHDRAW (and receive a full refund)

  • SINGLE A/7U - 2/1/26, 11:59 PM
  • AA, AAA, and MAJORS
  • 1/8/26, 11:59 PM (if attending the 1/10/26 assessment)
  • 1/22/26, 11:59 PM (if attending the 1/24/26 assessment, or if the player has yet to be assessed)

  • NO refunds will be provided after the dates noted above unless authorized by the League President.
  • If authorized, refunds will be processed within seven (7) days.
